Venue

All conference presentations at SALT 29 will take place in the historic Royce Hall of UCLA's campus (pdf map; interactive map). Talks and poster sessions will be held in Royce 314. The nearby library and outdoor loggia in Royce 306 will be available on Days 2 and 3 of the conference as a salon and happy hour venue.

On Saturday night, there will be a conference dinner in the California Room of the nearby UCLA Faculty Center. Dinner is available only to registered conference participants.

SALT 29 will overlap with the UCLA Centennial Celebration on May 18. We encourage participants to book accommodations early and take public transportation to campus, if possible.

Travel

The best options for traveling to Westwood from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is to take a cab or ride share car. An alternative option is to take the LAX Flyaway to Westwood Village commuter bus.

Hotels

We encourage SALT attendees to book their accommodations as early as possible, as UCLA is hosting a big alumni event the same weekend. There are several hotels close to campus, including:

A block of 20 rooms has been reserved at the campus-adjacent Hilgard House Hotel for May 17-19. The discounted rooms are available at $187/night for one person and $192 for two. Please contact the Hilgard House directly if you'd like to book, and mention the SALT 29 block; contact our staff member Liya at liya@humnet.ucla.edu if you have any questions.

Food

For Friday and Saturday lunches, there are a number of restaurants on campus that are convenient to get to. The ones on North Campus and Central Campus are particularly close by, although note that the North Campus restaurants are closed on Saturdays, so we recommend restaurants in the Ackerman Union on that day.

There are a variety of restaurants in Westwood within walking distance for dinner on Friday. We recommend one of these.

Parking

The parking structures nearest to Royce Hall are Lots P2 and P5. P2 is accessible most directly from Sunset Blvd., and P5 is accessible most directly from Hilgard Ave. For both structures, you will need to purchase a daily parking pass from a parking booth on campus; details here.
